Whilst perusing the archives of the J1 blogs, I happened upon this article by Desiree- http://lokiwasright.blogspot.com/2018/10/local-news-what-should-be-prioritized.html
I found it to be short but sweet. Desiree makes a legitimate argument, this being that celebrity tv (In this case, American Idol.) should not be placed more prominently than news stories affecting many across the nation. What stands in the way of political dominance if we allow news outlets to feed us entertainment instead of important, pertinent news about laws and freedoms of people nationwide? If we Idolize entertainment but stray from news, the consequences would be horrendous.
